Governor Idris of Kebbi state on Tuesday confirmed that the state government did not enter into any form of ransom negotiation with the kidnappers. He stressed that both the Federal and State Governments stood firm on a no-ransom policy throughout the operation.

“No ransom was paid. The Kebbi State Government did not spend a kobo, and neither did the Federal Government. The rescue was achieved solely through the efforts of our security agencies,” he stated.
The governor disclosed that the students will be reunited with their parents on Wednesday. He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for issuing immediate directives that led to the successful rescue of the schoolgirls.
The presidency, through the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, earlier confirmed the development, adding that President Tinubu commended the security agencies for their swift action.

Tinubu urged security operatives to intensify surveillance and sustain operations to ensure the freedom of other victims still in captivity.
“I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must urgently deploy more officers in vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks,” President Tinubu said.
The Kebbi State Government assured residents that security operations will continue in the affected areas, while investigations and additional rescue missions remain underway.
