President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday declared a nationwide security emergency and directed a massive expansion of the country’s security workforce in response to worsening violence, kidnappings, and banditry across Nigeria.
In a statement issued from the State House, the President ordered the Nigerian Police Force to recruit 20,000 additional officers, bringing the total number of new police personnel approved under his administration to 50,000.

As part of the accelerated security measures, President Tinubu also authorised the use of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps as temporary training centres to fast-track the preparation and deployment of new recruits.
