- Adebayo says President Tinubu has failed in handling insecurity and governance.
- Claims of worsening insecurity shows Tinubu has lost control of his administration.
- He claims the government has no clear plan or policy direction on security.
- Refutes Trump’s statement, says Nigeria is not a failed country but the government is.
The former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has issued a strong criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the president has failed in handling the growing insecurity in Nigeria and is no longer in control of his government.
In a statement yesterday, Adebayo warned that Nigeria is paying the price for electing Tinubu, accusing the president of recording failures in every major sector. According to him, the security situation, economic challenges and rising inflation prove that the government has been unable to provide leadership.

“You can’t fail in every aspect,” Adebayo said. “You fail in security, you fail in the economy, you fail in culture, and you fail in sports. Everything is worse and every index has declined. Unemployment is worse and inflation is worse.”
He added that the administration has failed to address critical national issues and accused the government of running without direction. He argued that the security crisis has exposed the administration’s inability to protect the country or respond with a workable strategy.

Describing the Tinubu government as “rudderless,” Adebayo said the presidency reacts only after incidents occur and has no clear roadmap for the future. He noted that there is no indication that the present state of insecurity or national governance reflects what the government intended a year or two ago.
On the international scene, Adebayo dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that Nigeria is a disgraced country. He clarified that while the country is not a failure, the current government is responsible for the negative image it carries abroad.
“It’s like a national team conceding two goals. It doesn’t mean the entire country is playing, but those representing us on the global stage become the face of the nation. President Tinubu represents Nigeria internationally, and the scorecard of his administration is disgraceful,” he stated.
