A wave of grief has swept across the Muslim community following the death of highly revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The cleric, who was born in 1927, died on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

His passing was confirmed by a close associate, Daha Azhary Bauchi, who announced the sad news with the prayer, “Innaa lillahi wa innaa ilaihi raji’un… Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has passed away.”

Another dedicated follower, Abubakar Ibrahim Wunti, also confirmed the news early Thursday morning.

Sheikh Dahiru was considered one of the most influential Islamic personalities in Nigeria and beyond. Over the decades, he devoted his life to spreading Islamic teachings, strengthening Quranic memorisation, and guiding students who trained under him.

He led thousands of disciples, built religious learning circles across different states, and made visible contributions to Islamic scholarship and spiritual development. Many Nigerians remember him as a man of wisdom, humility, and knowledge.

Tributes continue to pour in as the nation mourns the passing of a cleric whose voice shaped generations in the study of the Holy Qur’an.
