Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing association with the opposition party.

His spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, announced late Monday night that the governor submitted his resignation on 4 November 2025, addressing the letter to the PDP Ward Chairman of Sagba Abogunde in Ede North Local Government Area.

Adeleke attributed his exit to the persistent crisis within the party’s national leadership.

“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he stated in the letter.

He also expressed gratitude to the party for the platform it provided him to serve as Senator for Osun West and later as Governor of Osun State.

The governor’s political future has been widely debated, with the PDP’s ongoing legal battles and internal instability raising questions about his next move.

Emerging reports suggest Adeleke may be considering the Accord Party as the 2026 governorship election approaches.

His departure comes at a critical moment for the opposition party, which continues to grapple with internal fractures that have weakened its national structure.
