President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s service chiefs and heads of security agencies to intensify operations and deliver “tangible, faster results” in the ongoing fight against insecurity across the country.
The president issued the directive during a closed-door meeting with the security leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, shortly after unveiling the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.

In attendance were Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Wahidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Sunday Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP); Adeola Ajayi, Director-General of the DSS; and Mohammed Mohammed, DG of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

The meeting lasted for over an hour.
Briefing journalists afterwards, CDS Oluyede described the session as “very engaging” and said the president gave fresh operational directives aimed at accelerating progress against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Oluyede added that the security agencies are working more cohesively and will intensify joint operations to ensure a safe and peaceful yuletide for Nigerians.
He reaffirmed that the armed forces and security institutions remain committed to delivering results that match the president’s expectations.
