The Rivers State House of Assembly has expressed full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, passing a unanimous vote of confidence and encouraging him to seek a second term in 2027. The motion, moved by House Leader Hon. Major Jack and backed by 25 members, highlighted Tinubu’s leadership and his efforts in advancing Rivers State’s development.
Lawmakers commended the President for appointing Rivers State indigenes to federal positions and initiating key projects, including the East-West Road and Bonny-Bodo Road, aimed at improving infrastructure and economic growth.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Mar tin Chike Amaewhule described Tinubu as a “compassionate father of the nation” and stressed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the federal government, particularly in matters of security, while urging citizens to provide relevant intelligence to security agencies.
Amaewhule also referenced the visit of prominent Rivers indigenes to the President and highlighted the fulfillment of promises, including the appointment of 39 sons and daughters of the state into positions of trust at the federal level. The House resolved to mobilize constituents in support of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a related development, the Assembly ordered a probe into allegations against Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, accused of neglecting an oil spill that devastated the B-Dere community in Gokana Local Government Area. The petition detailed the environmental and economic damage caused by the spill, which contaminated water sources, destroyed vegetation, and affected livelihoods. The matter has been referred to the House Committee on Public Complaints and Petitions for investigation.
“The spill had a devastating impact on vegetation and local livelihoods, causing both economic loss and psychological stress to residents,” the petition stated.
