The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has disclosed that a significant portion of President Tinubu’s current team — nearly 70% — had at some point opposed him politically.
Bwala made the revelation while addressing concerns over the eligibility of some ambassadorial nominees who had previously criticised or worked against the President. Speaking on a television programme on Thursday, he explained that President Tinubu values reconciliation and inclusion.

According to Bwala, Tinubu shared that his mother taught him to embrace even those who once stood against him:
“As the head of the market women, she taught him that if you are going to be angry with people just because they offended you, you will wake up one morning and find” that there are no people left for you to lead.”
Bwala also recounted his personal experience meeting the President, saying he initially avoided Tinubu due to past political differences, but the President reassured him, highlighting his capacity to forgive and work with former opponents.
