The alert informed users that the platform was “temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria” to ensure user safety and maintain platform integrity.
By 11pm, LIVE broadcasts became inaccessible nationwide, with affected accounts displaying a “No Access” tag. Users were also unable to watch LIVE streams from other countries during the blackout period. The restriction lasts until 5am daily.
TikTok said the move is part of efforts to strengthen content safety and protect its Nigerian community, but did not specify how long the investigation would last.
