“Everyone who has followed the developments leading to this defection will recall that the governor willingly travelled the path that brought him here,” the party said.

The PDP noted that despite tensions in Rivers State, Fubara should not overlook the support provided by the party, civil society groups, and Nigerians during times of crisis. It cautioned against sympathy for individuals allegedly pushing him toward APC.

Highlighting broader democratic concerns, the PDP warned that recent political moves signal a shrinking political space, while accusing the APC of using federal power to edge toward a one-party system.

The party urged citizens, democratic institutions, and the international community to remain alert during what it described as a critical moment for Nigeria’s democracy.
