Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has died at the age of 60.
The deputy governor reportedly collapsed in his office in Yenagoa on Thursday at around 1:30 p.m. and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa. He was placed in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, but efforts to revive him failed.

Ewhrudjakpo’s Press Secretary, Doubara Atasi, confirmed his death, declining to provide further details.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo had served as Bayelsa State Deputy Governor since 2020, working closely with the state government until his untimely death on Thursday afternoon.
