APC advances digitised membership system to boost transparency and internal democracy
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the increasing number of Nigerians joining the ruling party reflects its expanding national appeal and organisational strength.
Yilwatda spoke on Friday at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he dismissed criticism from opposition parties over recent political realignments.
According to him, the APC’s appeal is driven by deliberate efforts to build a pan-Nigerian political platform anchored on progressive ideals, inclusive governance, and effective mobilisation across the country.

The APC chairman pointed to recent defections by governors and political structures as evidence that the ruling party is becoming increasingly attractive to Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.
He also highlighted the party’s dominant position in the National Assembly, noting that its majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives has strengthened outreach and encouraged lawmakers from opposition parties to cross over.

Yilwatda further disclosed that the APC is making progress with the digitisation of its membership register, describing the electronic registration system as a tool to enhance transparency, efficiency, accuracy, and internal democracy.
The NEC meeting followed an earlier national caucus meeting, where party leaders reviewed strategies ahead of future elections.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other top party stakeholders were in attendance, with the meeting ending on a note of commitment to party expansion, national unity, and electoral preparedness.
