In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Samaila Uba, said the strikes were based on credible intelligence and followed careful planning to weaken terrorist networks without causing harm to civilians.

According to him, the operation received approval from relevant authorities and was aimed at degrading the operational strength of foreign terrorist elements attempting to establish a foothold in Nigeria.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in conjunction with the United States of America, successfully conducted precision airstrikes against identified foreign ISIS-linked elements operating in parts of North-West Nigeria,” Uba said.

He explained that the mission was designed to limit collateral damage while delivering decisive blows to terrorist camps and logistics routes.

Uba added that the action sends a clear message that Nigeria will not tolerate transnational terrorist groups operating within its borders.

“This operation clearly demonstrates the unwavering resolve of the Federal Government of Nigeria, working with strategic international partners, to confront terrorism and prevent foreign fighters from gaining ground in our country,” he stated.

The Defence Headquarters also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Nigeria, stressing that joint and international security cooperation remains vital to restoring lasting peace.
