Following the incident, residents expressed growing concern over what they described as worsening insecurity on rural roads in the area. They said the Ogbe–Egbe road has become increasingly dangerous, especially for people attending social events or travelling between villages.
Community leaders have called on security agencies and the Kogi State Government to immediately strengthen patrols along the route and launch sustained operations in nearby forests believed to serve as hideouts for the attackers.
The latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents linked to banditry across parts of northern and central Nigeria, raising renewed questions about the safety of rural commuters.
