Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has revealed how he once cleaned a British Airways toilet during a flight, using the moment to highlight what he described as true leadership, responsibility, and problem-solving skills.
Peter Obi made the revelation on Monday while speaking during a live X Space session with his supporters, popularly known as the Obidients.

Recounting the incident, Obi said it happened several years ago while he was still a serving governor, returning on a British Airways flight.
According to him, a female passenger had attempted to use the aircraft toilet but walked away after finding it in a filthy condition.
“We were coming back on British Airways years back; I was a serving governor. The toilet was completely messed up. She opened it, saw the mess, and walked away,” Obi said.

Rather than ignore the situation, Obi said he decided to clean the toilet himself, explaining that he could be the next person to need it.
“I went inside and cleaned it. Maybe I would be the next person to use it,” he added.
Obi revealed that a member of the flight crew later noticed the change and was shocked by what she saw.
“She came back and saw that the whole place was cleaned. She didn’t tell me directly, but she told a minister and others, saying, ‘I can’t believe this,’” he recalled.
The former Anambra State governor said the incident reflects how leaders should respond when faced with problems instead of passing blame.
“When you see something wrong, clean it. I don’t have house help in my house. Let us stop living fake lives,” Obi said.
As of the time of filing this report, British Airways has not reacted to Obi’s account.
