According to him, the suspect, identified as Abubakar Mustapha, was arrested by troops of the 152 Task Force Battalion, working alongside other security agencies, after weeks of intelligence gathering.
Lt.-Col. Uba disclosed that the suspect was found with primed improvised explosive device (IED) materials, adding that early findings showed he is a native of Bama with links to terrorist activities in the area.

“The suspect was apprehended at Banki Central Mosque and was found in possession of IED-related materials. He is currently undergoing further interrogation to determine the full extent of his involvement,” Uba said.
In a related operation, troops stationed at the Cameroon–Nigeria border gate intercepted a Peugeot vehicle transporting six bags of urea fertiliser, a key ingredient commonly used in making explosives.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the fertiliser dealer, with an additional six bags of urea recovered. All seized items are now in military custody.
Uba stated that troops have continued aggressive patrols across their area of responsibility to deny JAS and ISWAP terrorists freedom of movement and operational space.
