A Nigerian woman, Hajiya Aisha Isah Yelwa, has earned widespread praise after returning ₦330 million that was mistakenly paid into her bank account in Niger State, choosing integrity over personal gain.
The incident reportedly occurred in Lapai, Niger State, where the large sum was accidentally credited to Hajiya Aisha’s First Bank account.

According to a Facebook post by Isah Kakanda, the beneficiary noticed the unusual deposit and immediately reported it to the appropriate authorities. The entire ₦330 million was returned without delay.

“She fully cooperated with government officials and returned the money without asking for recognition, reward, or publicity,” Kakanda wrote.
He added, “This is a clear example of honesty that deserves respect and public commendation.”
The gesture has drawn comparisons to a similar incident in August 2025, when Faiza Abdulkadir, a cleaner earning ₦30,000 monthly in Maiduguri, returned ₦4.8 million mistakenly credited to her account.
Faiza explained her decision at the time, saying, “I knew I would not have peace of mind if I spent money that was not mine. I returned it because of the fear of God and the hope of reward in the hereafter.”
Many Nigerians have since taken to social media to celebrate Hajiya Aisha’s action, describing it as a powerful reminder that honesty still exists despite economic hardship.
