More than 50 armed bandits invaded the communities of Kaiwa, Gebbe and Gelawa in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing eight people during the attack.
A local source said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and in large numbers, launching the assault on the communities almost at the same time.

According to him, many residents managed to escape into nearby bushes when they noticed the bandits approaching, while others were trapped.
“We saw them riding into our community, and people immediately started running for safety,” the source said.
“Some were not lucky. They killed more than eight people and abducted an unknown number of others.”

The source added that the gunmen shot from different directions, causing panic and forcing many residents to flee to neighbouring villages and surrounding bushes.
He described the attack on Gebbe community as unusual, noting that the area had not experienced such violence in recent years.
“It is still difficult to know the exact number of casualties,” he said, adding that many residents remain displaced following the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Command, SP Bashir Usman, said security agencies had begun coordinated operations in the affected areas.
He stated that seven people were initially confirmed dead across the three communities, while another victim later died while receiving treatment, bringing the death toll to eight.
