Nigerian actor Timini Egbuson has been thrown into mourning following the death of his father, Samuel Oyindobra Egbuson, a loss that has cast a shadow over the beginning of 2026 for the popular film star and his family.

Timini Egbuson, brother to renowned actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande, confirmed his father’s passing in a heartfelt message shared on Instagram on Sunday.

The actor posted a series of photos celebrating his father’s life, describing the pain of having to say goodbye at the start of a new year. Though he did not disclose the cause or exact date of death, his words reflected deep shock and grief.

“Didn’t think I’ll start the year saying this. Rest in peace, dad. So much left unsaid, but I’ll keep making you proud,” Timini wrote.

He also offered a quiet prayer for the peaceful rest of his father’s soul, promising to honour his legacy through his life and career.
