The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Pastor Victor Akande, has said residents of the state have resolved not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections due to what he described as the party’s poor performance while in power.

Akande said the rejection of the APC is rooted in the hardship experienced by residents during previous administrations, particularly issues of unpaid entitlements that he noted affected pensioners across the state.

He stated that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has reversed policies and outcomes linked to past APC governments, bringing relief to pensioners and improving governance outcomes.

Speaking during a media briefing in Osogbo on Thursday, Akande said Governor Adeleke has recorded notable achievements within three years in office, adding that these accomplishments have earned him widespread support for a second term.

He highlighted several infrastructure projects executed by the current administration, including the Oke-Fia flyover bridge, and said development projects are now evenly spread across communities in the state.

Akande also dismissed the chances of the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, saying he does not pose a threat to the incumbent. According to him, residents still recall the hardship experienced under APC rule.

He alleged that during the APC administration, pensioners were paid half salaries, leading to severe hardship and inability to afford basic healthcare, while cooperative funds were mismanaged and several projects abandoned.

The Accord Party chairman said the rejection of the APC was evident in the 2022 governorship election and expressed confidence that the 2026 election would further reflect the will of the people.

On mobilisation, Akande said the Accord Party has functional structures across all local governments and wards in Osun State, with intensified grassroots engagement to educate residents on its platform and the voting process.

He disclosed that the party has also set up a community enlightenment committee to reach residents in areas without access to electricity or social media, ensuring inclusive political awareness.

Akande added that the Accord Party maintains cordial relationships with other political parties in the state and continues to engage stakeholders through the Inter-Party Advisory Council, stressing that sustaining governance achievements requires broad political cooperation.
