The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating as part of the joint task force under Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another major operational success with a coordinated air interdiction at Abbaga Jiri in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.

In a statement on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the operation followed credible multi-source intelligence confirming the presence of terrorists, key structures, and hidden logistics facilities in the location.

Acting on the intelligence, NAF air assets were deployed for integrated surveillance and precision strike missions, leading to the successful engagement of identified targets.

According to the statement, the mission was carefully planned to degrade terrorist capabilities, deny them sanctuary, and shape the battlespace for advancing ground forces, while strictly adhering to rules of engagement and the protection of non-combatants.

Reacting to the outcome, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the success underscored the NAF’s determination to dominate the airspace in support of joint operations.

He noted that the identified terrorist structures were decisively destroyed, while follow-up strikes neutralised armed elements attempting to regroup at the location.

Air Marshal Aneke added that the subsequent advance of ground troops into the area confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes and validated the success of the joint air and land operation.

Reaffirming the Air Force’s stance, the CAS stressed that NAF operations would remain relentless and intelligence-driven until terrorist networks are completely dismantled.
