Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a deserved victory over Algeria on Saturday.
The quarter-final clash was evenly balanced in the first half, with both teams cancelling each other out and creating few clear-cut chances.

However, Nigeria returned from the break with renewed intensity and control.
The breakthrough came midway into the second half when Simon Oshimen found the net, finishing off sustained attacking pressure to give the Super Eagles a crucial lead.

Algeria responded by pushing men forward in search of an equaliser, but Nigeria’s defence remained resolute and well organised.
Late in the encounter, Adams Akor put the result beyond doubt with a composed finish, sealing the victory and ending Algeria’s hopes of a comeback. The win confirms Nigeria’s place in the last four as they continue their push for continental glory.
