The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its planned nationwide strike earlier scheduled to commence on Monday, January 12, 2026.

The decision was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the association’s Secretary-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim.

NARD had previously announced the strike following an emergency National Executive Council (E-NEC) meeting held on January 2, where members resolved to withdraw services to press home their demands from the Federal Government.

According to the association, the suspension of the strike followed fresh developments and engagements concerning the issues raised, prompting a reconsideration of the planned industrial action.
