No fewer than seven residents of Kyara village, a remote border community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, have been killed following a fresh bandits’ attack on the area.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday in a village located close to the Nigeria–Niger Republic border, according to security expert Zagazola Makama.

Makama disclosed that the attackers, who were said to be in large numbers and armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community and opened fire indiscriminately, throwing residents into panic.
During the attack, seven villagers were shot dead, while two others sustained gunshot injuries.
The bandits were also said to have abducted about three residents and rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals from the community.
Security operatives were said to have arrived shortly after the attack and evacuated the corpses and injured victims to a hospital for autopsy and medical treatment, as investigations into the incident continue.
