- Osimhen’s presence boosts team morale
Osimhen arrived at approximately 9:45 p.m. Nigerian time, completing the list of 28 invited players ahead of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
The development was confirmed by Promise Efoghe, the Super Eagles’ Media Officer, who described the striker’s arrival as a timely morale booster for the squad.

“Victor Osimhen joined the camp late Wednesday night, and that means we now have all invited players in camp,” Efoghe said.
“It is a big lift for the squad because everyone is now focused on the same objective as final preparations begin in earnest.”
The Super Eagles had opened camp on Sunday, December 14, at the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo, with all coaches and backroom staff already in place.
Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was the first player to arrive, touching down shortly after 2:00 a.m. local time, setting the pace for early commitment ahead of the tournament.
Since then, the team has held two training sessions, on Monday and Tuesday, before taking on Egypt in an international friendly at the Cairo International Stadium.
Osimhen, along with Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze, missed the friendly as they were concluding club duties. Nigeria lost the match 2–1, but team officials insist the result will not affect the squad’s focus.
According to Efoghe, the coaching crew remains satisfied with the progress so far as attention shifts fully to AFCON preparations.
