  • Ongoing road projects cited as proof of commitment to Abia’s development

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said his administration will not be distracted by talks about the 2027 general elections, stressing that his priority remains fixing the state.

The governor stated this on Saturday during a church service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuikaa District Headquarters, in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, where he assured residents that his government would stay focused on delivering good governance.

Otti said his concern is not the next election cycle but fulfilling the mandate given to him by the people of Abia, noting that the same God who made his victory possible in 2023 would determine the outcome of 2027.

According to him, no individual or group has the right to divert his administration’s attention from doing what is right for the state, adding that political “noise” should not distract governance.

The governor also apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused by dust and construction activities around the Umuikaa Junction–Owerrinta Road, explaining that such challenges are inevitable during development.

He revealed that the ongoing dualisation of the Owerrinta road, though a federal road, was approved by the Federal Government and forms part of broader infrastructure renewal, including the Onuimo–Tower road.

Otti said the goal of the projects is to ensure that anyone entering Abia State can immediately see and feel the difference brought by purposeful governance.
