The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is preparing to host a joint wedding ceremony for nine of his children, with all marriages slated to be solemnised on the same day in Abuja.

The mass wedding is scheduled for February 6, 2026, and will take place at the Central Mosque in the nation’s capital. Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, is expected to host family members, political associates, and well-wishers at the event.

Details of the ceremony became public after a general invitation card surfaced online, confirming the date and venue of the multiple weddings. Subsequent wedding cards later revealed the identities of some of the couples involved.

Among those set to tie the knot is a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, who will marry Nana Bello Matawalle.

Also listed are Ibrahim Sahabi Liman, who will wed Farida Bello Matawalle, and Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani, who is to marry Safiya Bello Matawalle.

Another daughter of the minister, Aisha Bello Matawalle, is equally scheduled to marry Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki.

The unusual joint ceremony has continued to attract public attention due to its scale and the prominence of the families involved.
