My Successor in 2031 Will Be Better Than Me — Governor Otti Declares

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, has stated that his successor in 2031 will be better than him, highlighting the solid foundation his administration is laying for the state’s development.

Governor Otti made the declaration during a ground reception service in his honour organized by the Assemblies of God Church, Okaiuga – Nkwoegwu, Umuahia North LGA.

He stressed that his administration is only in its early stages, but significant progress has already been made. “We have just started. We are not three years yet. So, you can imagine what will happen by the time we are done in 2031. The curse that held the state down has been broken,” Otti said.

He cited Psalm 62:11 to affirm his belief that true power and timing belong to God, noting that even the best-laid plans succeed only in God’s time.

During the event, the Governor confirmed that the church would receive a Hummer bus for evangelism this week, courtesy of Prince Dr Arthur Eze. He also instructed his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D., to work with the church leadership to secure land for a prayer village.

Rev. Dr Kenneth Ogbudu, District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Jerusalem District, praised Governor Otti as a transformational leader who has redefined governance in Abia State. He highlighted the administration’s focus on competence, transparency, accountability, and visible impact.

“Under your leadership, Abia State has witnessed a bold restoration of public infrastructure. Roads abandoned for decades have been reconstructed, connecting communities, easing transportation, stimulating commerce, and restoring dignity to both urban and rural areas,” Rev. Ogbudu said.

He also commended the Governor for introducing fiscal discipline, ensuring regular payment of salaries and pensions, and implementing institutional reforms to strengthen governance.

Governor Otti’s wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti, along with state lawmakers, commissioners, and senior aides, were present at the reception, celebrating the Governor’s achievements and his commitment to the development of Abia State.
