Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to deliberate on key security and development challenges confronting the state.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the closed-door meeting centred on strengthening security, accelerating major infrastructure projects, and deepening cooperation between Kano State and the Federal Government.

Governor Yusuf informed the President of the worsening security situation in some parts of Kano, highlighting recent violent incidents, including the killing of a housewife and her children. He stressed the urgent need for enhanced federal intervention to safeguard lives and restore peace across affected communities.
The governor also explained the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in supporting conventional security agencies and called for improved coordination with federal security institutions to tackle insecurity more effectively.

On development matters, Yusuf outlined his administration’s infrastructure priorities, with emphasis on large-scale projects aimed at boosting economic activities and job creation in the state.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for federal intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a critical step towards unlocking Kano’s economic potential.
Governor Yusuf further appealed for expedited execution of ongoing federal projects in Kano and requested increased access to federal programmes and investments.
In response, President Tinubu assured the governor of the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with Kano State to address security concerns and promote sustainable development across the state.
