According to PTDF, the scholarship is open to qualified candidates seeking MSc and PhD degrees in oil and gas-related fields, with study destinations including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
The agency said the scholarship package covers tuition fees, return flight tickets, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and bench fees where applicable.
PTDF explained that the programme is designed to provide beneficiaries with access to world-class education, advanced research facilities, and global expertise, while strengthening local capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
For PhD candidates in the UK, the scheme will operate a split-site arrangement, allowing scholars to conduct research at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, and partner universities such as Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth.

The agency noted that the scholarship is highly competitive, stressing that only candidates who demonstrate strong academic merit and relevance to the oil and gas industry will be selected.
Eligibility requirements include a minimum of Second Class Lower or Second Class Upper degree for MSc applicants, completion of the National Youth Service Corps, computer literacy, and five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
PhD applicants are also required to submit a five-page research proposal detailing objectives, methodology, and data collection plans.
PTDF warned that all applicants must have a verified National Identity Number, adding that multiple applications or submission of false documents will lead to automatic disqualification.
Applications are to be submitted online through the PTDF scholarship portal, with the deadline fixed for February 27, 2026.
