The Delta State Sports Commission has officially sacked Delta Queens head coach, Samaila Samaila Marwa, popularly known as Keshi, following allegations of gross misconduct, unprofessional behaviour, and poor work ethics. The decision takes immediate effect and comes amid growing concerns over the coach’s conduct and the club’s declining performance in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).

The termination was communicated in a formal letter dated January 15, 2026, signed by Omajajah Onoriode on behalf of the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission.

According to the letter, the Commission accused the former coach of actions it described as “inimical to the progress and growth of Delta Queens Football Club.”

Among the major allegations were claims that Keshi repeatedly bullied players and club officials, despite several warnings and cautionary meetings held by the Commission’s leadership.

The Commission further alleged that the coach consistently disrespected the office of the club’s General Manager, openly challenged constituted authorities, and failed to comply with official directives.

The letter also revealed that Marwa allegedly threatened to resign whenever he was cautioned, a habit the Commission said created instability and weakened discipline within the team.

A particularly serious issue arose during Delta Queens’ away match against Ahudiyannen Queens of Umuahia on January 14, 2026, as well as the club’s 1–0 home defeat to Abia Angels at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

The Commission claimed that the coach’s actions during the match led to a false alarm against the host team, a situation that nearly dragged Delta Queens into an unnecessary dispute with the Nigeria Women’s Football League management.

“The actions of the coach during that encounter were capable of bringing the club and Delta State into disrepute at the national level,” the letter stated.

The Commission stressed that such behaviour was unacceptable in a league striving for professionalism, discipline, and integrity, especially at a time when Delta Queens are struggling in the 2026/2027 NWFL season.
