Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have recorded major success in Zamfara State after killing six terrorists, destroying their camps, and rescuing a kidnapped underage girl during a fierce operation in the Sububu forests of Maradun Local Government Area.

The operation, aimed at flushing out terrorists and restoring peace in troubled communities, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain David Adewusi, and made available to journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

According to the statement, the troops began the offensive at Indulumu village, where they engaged terrorists in a gun duel.

“During the encounter, troops neutralised two terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle,” Captain Adewusi said.

The Strike Force later advanced to Ruduno village, where they met stiff resistance but overpowered the terrorists.

“In a display of bravery and tactical superiority, the troops neutralised four more terrorists,” the statement added.

During the operation, soldiers recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and destroyed two motorcycles used by the terrorists for movement and logistics.

Beyond the combat success, the troops also achieved a critical humanitarian breakthrough.

“As the troops advanced deeper into the forest, they rescued a kidnapped underage victim, Halira Ibrahim, bringing an end to her painful ordeal,” the statement said.

The rescue, according to the military, reflects its strong commitment to protecting innocent civilians and tackling kidnapping in the region.

The operation further led to the destruction of several terrorist camps and support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara, denying the criminals safe hideouts and weakening their ability to launch attacks.
