In a statement issued on Monday, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reports as “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” stressing that no such discussions are taking place within the party.
The clarification comes amid growing political commentary and media speculation in recent weeks, during which the names of several senior party leaders and government officials were publicly mentioned as possible alternatives to Shettima on the APC’s future presidential ticket.
According to Morka, none of the reports cited official party sources, yet they gained wide circulation across both traditional and social media platforms, creating unnecessary debate about the party’s internal arrangements.
He warned media organisations against amplifying what he called mischievous narratives driven by rumour-mongers whose intention, he said, is to stir confusion and create division within the political space.
“These reports are entirely false and should be ignored. The APC is not engaged in any discussion about the 2027 elections,” Morka stated.
The party further emphasised that, in line with Nigeria’s electoral laws and regulations, the ban on political activities remains in effect, making any speculation about the 2027 ticket premature and misleading.
The APC said its current priority is to fully support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which it said is already driving key reforms aimed at economic recovery, job creation and improved living standards for Nigerians.
The party also cautioned ministers, senior government officials and party leaders to refrain from making statements or taking actions that could fuel unnecessary political speculation.
Instead, the APC urged all its officials to focus on effective governance, party unity and promoting the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration.
