The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to the statement, the attackers also rustled livestock during the raid before fleeing the area.

Nguroje said a joint rescue operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) had been launched to secure the release of the abducted victims.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets to the affected area and surrounding communities,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Dankombo Morris, has ordered sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols and increased security presence across Madagali and other border communities to prevent further attacks.

“The Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state,” Nguroje said, adding that further updates would be communicated.

Meanwhile, Governor Fintiri on Tuesday commenced a tour of the state’s 21 local government areas to assess the security situation and other challenges facing residents.

The latest attack comes amid rising insecurity in parts of Adamawa State. Recently, an attack in Hong Local Government Area reportedly claimed 12 lives, while a communal crisis between Bachaman and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area earlier this year left over 20 people dead.
