The governor announced the measures during an on-the-spot assessment visit to Okporojo community in Edda Local Government Area, following a violent attack that left at least four people dead and homes destroyed.
According to the governor, the sanctions are part of urgent steps to halt the cycle of violence and send a clear message that lawlessness will not be tolerated in the state.
“For the time being, the development union executive and all the villages in Amasiri communities are hereby dissolved. The traditional ruler certificate is withdrawn, and all government appointees from Amasiri are hereby sacked,” Nwifuru said.
He added that the decision affects everyone from management committee members to commissioners from the area, including the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Amari Omaka (SAN).
Nwifuru, visibly angry during the visit, described the attack as shocking and unacceptable, noting that the conflict had dragged on for years despite reconciliation efforts and boundary agreements.
“Those that started this war will regret it,” the governor warned, urging residents to remain calm and avoid retaliation.
He assured the affected communities that the state government would pursue the perpetrators decisively, stressing that the lives lost would not be in vain.
The governor also cautioned that continued provocation could push the situation beyond control, reiterating that peace, not revenge; remains the only path forward.
