The medical community in Jos, Plateau State, has been thrown into mourning following the death of a doctor from Lassa fever at Bingham University Teaching Hospital, after she reportedly contracted the virus while treating an infected patient.
Sadness has enveloped Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BHUTH), Jos, after the death of Dr. Salome Oboyi, a Senior Resident Doctor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr. Oboyi reportedly passed away two days ago after battling Lassa fever, which she is believed to have contracted in the line of duty while attending to a patient diagnosed with the viral illness.
Her passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, friends, and patients who described her as a committed medical professional who put patient care above personal comfort.
