The All Progressives Congress (APC) has replaced Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as chairman of the 2026 APC National Convention Central Coordination Committee, appointing former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari in his place as preparations intensify for the party’s national convention scheduled for March 2026.
In a significant shake-up ahead of its 2026 national convention, the APC has relieved Governor Hope Uzodimma of his role as chairman of the party’s Central Coordination Committee.

Uzodimma, who was earlier announced as head of the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as treasurer of the expanded body. The party also increased the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 members, a move aimed at accommodating more stakeholders across the country.
Among the newly inducted members is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside other notable APC chieftains drawn from different geopolitical zones.
Confirming the changes, the party explained that the restructuring was part of a revised framework for the 2026 APC National Convention, citing zoning considerations and strategic necessities as key factors behind the decision.
“The adjustments were made to ensure broader representation and more effective coordination ahead of the national convention,” a senior party source said.
While the National Working Committee (NWC) has not publicly stated a specific reason for Uzodimma’s replacement, party insiders suggest the reshuffle is designed to strengthen internal balance and operational efficiency.
The APC national convention, scheduled for March 2026, is expected to produce new national officers and set the tone for the party’s future direction. Further details regarding the committee’s inauguration, terms of reference, and operational roadmap are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
