The Abia State Government has firmly denied reports alleging that Governor Alex Otti filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government at an international court over the approval of a cargo airport in Aba, describing the claims as false, misleading and deliberately crafted to deceive the public.

In a statement released late Monday, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said the viral report circulating on social media and fringe platforms was completely fabricated and had no basis in fact.

According to Kanu, the claim that Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, approached a so-called “World Court” to challenge aviation infrastructure approvals was a deliberate lie designed to mislead the public.

“Let it be stated categorically and without ambiguity that no such lawsuit exists. Governor Alex Otti has neither approached nor petitioned any international court against the Federal Government on this matter or any other,” the statement said.

The government explained that aviation approvals in Nigeria are handled strictly within established national regulatory frameworks, stressing that Abia State has never considered international litigation on such matters.

Kanu added that the suggestion that a sitting governor would bypass constitutional processes to accuse Nigeria of marginalisation or genocide before an imaginary court only exposed the desperation of those behind the report.

The commissioner also rejected claims that Governor Otti accused Lagos State of targeting Igbos, describing the allegation as a calculated attempt to stir ethnic tension.

“The claim that Governor Otti alleged that Igbos are being killed or denied their rights in Lagos is a wicked lie calculated to inflame ethnic sentiments and create unnecessary tension,” Kanu said.

He noted that Governor Otti remains committed to national unity, lawful engagement and constructive collaboration with the Federal Government.

Describing the report as a smear campaign, the Abia Government said opposition elements unsettled by the administration’s reforms were behind the false narrative.

The state government urged the public to disregard the report entirely and advised media organisations to verify information from official and credible sources before publication.

“We reserve the right to pursue appropriate action against individuals or platforms that deliberately peddle falsehoods capable of undermining public peace and confidence in government,” the statement warned.
