The Enugu State Government has shut down the operations of Bet9ja in the state following alleged persistent violations of the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Law. The action, which affects all outlets operated by KC Gaming Networks, was carried out by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commissionafter securing a court order from the High Court of Enugu State.

The enforcement exercise was conducted by officials of the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission, acting on the authority of a ruling issued by the High Court of Enugu State.

The court, in a suit marked 6/54/2025 between the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission and KC Gaming Networks, granted approval for the sealing of the betting firm’s facilities across the state.

Speaking to journalists after the operation, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prince Arinze Arum, said the shutdown was not sudden but the outcome of prolonged engagement with the operator.

“We are here to enforce compliance with the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Law. Over time, we have had several communications with KC Gaming Networks concerning their infractions and regulatory breaches,” Arum stated.

He explained that the company failed to respond positively to several official warnings, administrative notices, and regulatory entreaties issued by the commission.

According to Arum, the violations ranged from failure to revalidate operating licences to outstanding statutory feesand other obligations required by law.

He added that the enforcement action represents a total shutdown of Bet9ja’s operations in Enugu State, stressing that the government would continue to act decisively against operators who disregard the law.
