Former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has paid a deeply emotional tribute to two of his closest allies by tattooing their names on his right bicep, following their tragic deaths in a car crash in Ogun State, Nigeria.

The British-Nigerian boxing icon unveiled the new tattoo in honour of Latif “Latz” Ayodele, his trusted personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach. Both men lost their lives in a fatal accident in December along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway while travelling during a visit to Nigeria.

The fresh ink features the names “LATZ” and “SINA” etched just beneath Joshua’s well-known map of Africa tattoo — a powerful symbol of his heritage and the unbreakable bond he shared with the two men.

The tribute comes weeks after Joshua publicly expressed his grief, describing the loss as one of the most painful moments of his life.

“Some people aren’t just part of your career — they’re part of your soul,” Joshua was quoted as saying in an earlier tribute.

Both Ayodele and Ghami were instrumental in shaping Joshua’s career, standing by him from his early rise to global stardom. Their guidance played a crucial role in his journey from winning Olympic gold at London 2012 to becoming a heavyweight world champion.

More than just body art, the tattoo serves as a permanent reminder of loyalty, brotherhood, and the sacrifices made behind the scenes — a mark of respect that will stay with Joshua long after the roar of the crowd fades.
