Actor Eric Dane, best known for his role in the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, has died at the age of 53.
Dane’s family confirmed that he passed away on Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Born in San Francisco, Dane began his television career with a 1991 appearance in Saved by the Bell. His breakthrough came in 2006 when he joined Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Mark Sloan, a role he played in 139 episodes until 2021.
Beyond the medical series, Dane starred in Charmed as Jason Dean and led the action drama The Last Ship as Captain Tom Chandler. He also featured in the HBO drama Euphoria.
His passing marks the end of a decades-long career in television that earned him global recognition and admiration.
