Tinubu Praises Wike as APC Records Major Wins in FCT, Rivers, Kano Elections

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying his achievements in the territory translated into political gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President’s remarks followed the conduct of area council elections across the Federal Capital Territory, alongside by-elections in Rivers State and Kano State.

The elections, conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), covered the six area councils of the FCT, as well as the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State and the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

According to results released by INEC, the APC recorded victories in most of the positions contested.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu congratulated all winners and praised stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

“President Tinubu commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress,” the statement said.

The President also congratulated the APC national leadership, as well as the party’s structures in Kano and Rivers states, for their performance at the polls.

Tinubu praised INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and credible election, noting that the orderly conduct of the polls further strengthened Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

He urged those elected to approach their mandate with responsibility, humility, and dedication.

“The President calls on all elected officials to serve with patriotism and to regard the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust,” the statement added.

Tinubu also commended all contestants for their conduct, stating that democracy thrives on participation and healthy competition. He encouraged INEC to continue improving its processes to further enhance public confidence in elections.
