US-Based Nigerian Fashion Designer Shot Dead in Brooklyn Nightclub

A 30-year-old Nigerian fashion designer, Sheriff Shittu, was shot dead in the early hours of February 14 at Quilox Restaurant and Lounge in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, during a birthday celebration.

Authorities reported that the shooting occurred around 4:25 a.m. after a disorderly patron, who was being escorted out by security, allegedly opened fire. The incident followed a heated confrontation after the suspect allegedly harassed Shittu’s girlfriend and other guests.

Shittu was rushed to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Hospital Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

His family, including his brother Fawaz Shittu, expressed outrage over the security lapse and are demanding justice. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene.

Shittu was described as an aspiring designer establishing his career in the US. Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
