Opposition criticism: Keyamo knocks “clueless opposition” and media voices over representation claims
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has declared that Nigerians have expressed their true position through the ballot in the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections and by-elections in Rivers and Kano states.
Keyamo made the remarks on his verified X handle on Sunday while reacting to the conduct of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

INEC had on February 21 conducted the FCT area council elections alongside by-elections in Rivers and Kano states.
Responding to post-election commentaries, Keyamo said, “The real Nigerians have now spoken for themselves, not those who pose for cameras in front of the National Assembly, claiming to speak for Nigerians.”
He further criticised certain media commentators, stating, “Not some funny journalists who don’t know the polling units in their villages, seated comfortably in some studios and claiming to speak for Nigerians, and not the clueless opposition claiming to speak for Nigerians.”
The minister stressed that while individuals and groups are entitled to their opinions, they should not generalise their views as representing the entire country.
“Everyone or any group has a right to their opinions, but never claim to speak for ‘Nigerians’ when there is no yardstick to ascertain your claim,” he added.
Keyamo advised that opinions should be clearly presented as personal beliefs or positions of specific organisations.
“When you make your point, clearly state it is your own belief or the position of your NGO or organisation, but do not pose as some Voltron defending majority of ‘Nigerians’. That is just my point,” he said.
