During the visit, the governor interacted with beneficiaries and members of the feeding centre committees, assessing meal portions and service delivery.
Speaking after the inspection, Aliyu praised the organisers for what he described as a significant improvement over last year’s programme.
“I am very much satisfied with what I have seen in all the centres we visited,” the governor said.
“There is a tremendous improvement this year compared to last year’s food served in some of the centres.”
He urged committee members to maintain the current standards and remain focused on the purpose of the initiative.
“The idea behind this programme is to assist the needy with a place to break their fast with ease; therefore, we need extra commitment from the feeding centre committees,” Aliyu added.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise the Ramadan Feeding Programme, noting the increasing daily turnout across the centres.
He also called on well-to-do individuals to support government efforts by setting up feeding centres within their communities to assist vulnerable residents during the fasting period.
The Ramadan Feeding Programme is an annual social intervention by the Sokoto State Government, aimed at providing free iftar meals to the less privileged throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
For the 2026 edition, the number of feeding centres was increased from 155 to 170 following requests from various communities. A total of N1 billion was allocated for the programme, with 34,000 plates of foodexpected to be served daily.
The initiative forms part of the Aliyu administration’s broader efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship on residents, especially during Ramadan.
