Speaking after a closed-door meeting at the State House, the Bauchi governor said the discussion had nothing to do with politics, but was focused strictly on governance and security cooperation.

“I am a PDP man. I am not here for politics or defection. I am here for governance and partnership,” Mohammed said.

The governor explained that his visit was prompted by the worsening security situation in Alkaleri Local Government Area, where banditry has escalated due to the forested areas surrounding the Daji Dam.

According to him, the unchecked forest spaces have made it easier for criminal groups to operate and launch attacks on nearby communities.

Mohammed said he personally presented a detailed report of the crisis to Bola Tinubu, seeking urgent federal intervention to restore security in the affected areas.

He added that the president received the report positively and immediately issued directives to relevant security agencies.

Beyond Bauchi, the governor stressed the need for regional collaboration to tackle banditry, calling for a joint security summit involving Bauchi, Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe states.

Mohammed also renewed his support for the establishment of state police, describing it as a practical solution to Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

“We are very ready for state police. We have always supported it because it will reduce the burden on the Federal Government and make governors more responsive and accountable,” he said.
