According to her, the vehicles involved included a Toyota Hiace bus, a shuttle bus, a trailer and a Toyota Hilux pickup truck. The trailer and Hilux were reportedly without registration numbers.
She explained that there were no eyewitnesses because the drivers fled the scene after the accident. However, preliminary findings by FRSC rescue officials indicated that the bus was descending a hill at high speed before losing control and crashing into three other vehicles.
A total of 19 persons were involved in the crash, including six adult men, 10 adult women and three male children. Four women died in the accident, while five others sustained injuries.
The injured victims were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Adazi for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited in the hospital morgue.
FRSC officials also created an alternative traffic route to ease congestion caused by the accident.
The sector commander sympathised with the families of the victims and urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding.
