Popular Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan, also known as VDM, has publicly criticised Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh following her viral deliverance session involving a student during a school evangelism outreach.

The clip quickly gained traction across social media platforms, generating mixed reactions from users. While some praised the actress for openly expressing her faith, others questioned the appropriateness of performing deliverance sessions in a school setting.

Reacting to the video, VeryDarkMan voiced strong disapproval, describing the actress’s new style of religious content as “nonsense.”

The activist warned the actress not to bring such activities into his community, explaining that his non-governmental organisation focuses on practical development initiatives, including renovating schools.

According to him, children in his area should be exposed to practical life orientation rather than narratives suggesting that supernatural forces are responsible for people’s struggles.

In a video message shared online, VDM said:

“With all due respect to Tonto Dikeh, this is a warning. Do not come to my area to do this again. Na only poor man children good to test your powers? Leave my area kids alone.”

He added that while prayer has its place, it should not replace hard work or practical solutions.

“We want to raise kids with real-life orientation, not the ideology that if you don’t make it, something is following you from the village. Prayers are good, but without work, prayers are not useful.”

The activist also made a controversial remark suggesting that the actress should focus on her own family rather than performing deliverance for other people’s children.

The exchange has since sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians sharing differing opinions about religion, evangelism in schools, and the role of public figures in spiritual activities.
