Police Recover Abandoned Car After Robbers Steal ₦10m from Bank Customer in Minna

The Nigeria Police Force in Niger State has recovered a vehicle abandoned by suspected armed robbers who attacked a bank customer and stole more than ₦10 million in Minna.

The robbery incident reportedly occurred along Shiroro Road in the state capital and was captured on a CCTV camera at a nearby restaurant.

The victim, identified as David Emmanuel Adebayo, said he had earlier withdrawn ₦5 million from Wema Bank before proceeding to TAJBank, where he withdrew an additional ₦3 million.

According to him, after completing the transactions at about 2 p.m. on Friday, he drove to Iya Femi Restaurant located along Shiroro Road.

Unknown to the victim, the attackers had allegedly trailed him from the bank.

At the location, the suspected armed robbers reportedly attacked him and carted away with the cash.

However, shortly after the robbery, the victim reportedly pursued the suspects and managed to recover one of the rifles used during the attack.

He reportedly fired at one of the suspects, who escaped from the scene with gunshot wounds.

During the incident, the assailants abandoned their Toyota Corolla vehicle and fled using the victim’s car.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, said officers recovered both the rifle used during the robbery and the abandoned vehicle.

He added that investigations are ongoing as security operatives work to track down and arrest the suspects involved in the attack.
