The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed that 15 persons were involved in the crash.

TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi disclosed that six victims — three men and three women — sustained injuries, while three others died at the scene.

The deceased were identified as a female toddler, an adult woman, and an adult man.

According to Akinbiyi, preliminary findings indicate that the accident occurred after the truck suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control before ramming into other vehicles.

Some commuters who were attempting to board buses along the road were reportedly crushed during the impact.

Emergency responders, including officials of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, officers of the Nigeria Police Force, and operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps, were deployed to the scene for rescue operations.

The injured victims were taken to General Hospital Ota for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Ifo Morgue.

Following the incident, TRACE warned traders against displaying goods on walkways and roadsides, noting that such practices expose them to serious risks.

Akinbiyi also urged drivers of articulated vehicles to ensure proper maintenance of their trucks to prevent similar accidents.

“Traders who display their wares on walkways and roadsides are advised to remove them in view of the risks involved,” he added.
